Thanks, Janna, for sending me this link!

CVS - Wow!!

Kudos to Jaime for her CVS trip last week. I did well this week; shocked myself even when the cashier told me my total. Here's what I got:

3 bottles of Dawn Hand Renewal - .99

Bayer Contour Glucose Meter - $14.99, get $5 ECB
14.99 off - 10/25 RP = better than free!

CVS bonanza

I am giddy with pride today after my trip to CVS. They had some great deals on things we use this week, and here is a summary of my trip;

Buy 1:
2 Gillette Clinical Strength Deodorant, $9.99, on sale for 2/$15 PLUS $5 ECB
1 Russell Stovers assorted candies, $8.99, on sale for $4.99 PLUS $1 ECB
1 Nivea Body Wash (which I love) $5.99, PLUS $5 ECB

I had a $1 coupon off of the body wash, and a $1 coupon off the candy. The coupons I hoped would work for deodorant, didn't.

Total buy: $25.68 (which seemed like a fortune)
I got $11 ECB back and 3 other coupons, including a $5 off $15 purchase to use within 3 days.
According to them, my total savings aws $10.98, but that doesn't count the ECB.

Buy 2:
2 Hershey's miniatures Candy, $3.49, on sale 2/$6*
Chapstick, $1.99, on sale for $1.50
4 2-liters of coke products, $1.33, on sale for 4/$4
Russell Stovers chocolate santas, $3.99, NO SALE. Darn.

Minus $5 off $15, and $10 ECB = $.50 Seriously. I paid with change.
Total savings on that order: $20.44

*The funny thing was I had a coupon for the hershey's candy for $1 off 2, and I had one more ECB, but they had me take them off because at the end of the transaction, it took more off, and I had a negative balance. They had to call the manager and such and it was a big deal. They wanted to rering, but I said, just take off teh ECB, just take off the coupon (which helped because I had an extra for them to scan, since they'd stuck mine in the drawer). So, all that, and I still have $1 ECB left!

Woo! So excited!

$2 Christmas movies at Walmart

Walmart has Curious George “A Very Monkey Christmas” and How The Grinch Stole Christmas on sale for $5 this week. Use these$3 off DVDs coupons to get these for $2 each.

(Thanks, Deal Seeking Mom!)

Walgreens 11/15

This is not particularly exciting, but I've been waiting for the Loreal EverPure color care shampoo to go on sale, which it did. Not B1G1 or anything great, but it was $1 off the regular price of $6.99, plus I had $2/1 coupons and $1 rapid rewards. I got shampoo and conditioner, plus some $.39 marshmellow santas for stockings and $1/5 pencils for $10. I thought that was a pretty good deal, considering I shouldn't even get both shampoo/conditioner for that. It's no free deal, but if you need color care, it's not too bad.

Baby Picture Frames

This might break "blog rules" but I told my friend, Tiffany, from Waco I'd pass on her lovely custom made picture frames. There seem to be an influx of babies being born so these might make cute gifts if you want to do something out of the ordinary.
See them here.

Disney $2.99 Sweatshirt

I'm not a big user of thedisneystore.com, but I read about a deal for $2.99 clearance sweatshirts and checked it out. I bought one for a niece-- the only ones left when I saw were XXS and XS, but if you have little guys, it's a real deal. If you use ebates.com, you can link to the site through there and get some cash back too (this didn't work for me, but I'm trying to get it worked out for the rest of the Christmas season).

Just go to disneystore.com and search for sweatshirt. Sort by price low to high, and you'll find them. There were boys and girls designs.

Tons of Target Toy coupons

There are lots of new Target Toy Coupons that are good this month for your early Christmas shopping - think about your own kids and charity gifts like Angel Tree!

You might also try matching them with some MFR coupons from retailers like Hasbro and LeapFrog for even greater savings! Check out Hip2Save for great matchups (also read comments on this page for even more ideas and real-life situations)

(Does anyone know if Target puts out a Toy Book around this time of year like ToysRUs?)

Double Coupons return?

According to our friends at Abundant Food Savings, Kmart coupon doubling is returning next week. Apparently there has been some disagreement over which stores are participating, so we'll have to wait and see. Here's keeping my fingers crossed for next week.

You may be required to login-- this is a new "Feature" on abundant food savings. Her site is so full of good information, it's probably worth it.

Price Chopper/Hen House deals

I thought this was a good week for grocery stock-up, as all three of the ads I watch (Hen House, Price Chopper and HyVee) were having some good deals. PC and HH had a special coupon section attached to their ads-- those are considered MANUFACTURER ads, so they cannot be stacked with a coupon you may have cut from the paper or whatever. The other thing is that when they ring up the coupons, it will only take the coupon off ONE item. So, if you buy multiples of whatever is on special, ask the clerk to scan the coupon multiple times-- it will work. Or, she may ask you to provide more than one coupon, so just run to the front and grab the number of ads you need. There are some terrific deals with those coupons, more than you get typically.

I went to PC and saved 50% on my total order. I only bought two things that weren't on sale, though, so that always helps. Here re a few examples:

Kraft american singles: PC sale price $1.99 - $1.00 in-ad coupon = $.99!
Oscar Meyer Deli Selects: PC sale price $2.00 - $2.00 in-ad coupon= $.99!
*I'm going to try to freeze these-- I've done everything but deli meat before, so I hope it works!*
DiGiorno Frozen Pizzas: PC sale price $5.99 - $3.00 in-ad coupon = $2.99
Pepsi 2 litres: $.99 (It's 88 at Hyvee and Hen House)
Keebler crackers are all 50% off!
Planter Peanuts: 2.79 each - $3/2 = $2.58 for two!
Quaker Instant Oatmeal (even the high fiber one) - PC sale price $1.98 (quaker coupons have been in the papers lately)

Anyway, it was a good week. Hyvee has lots of deals too, if I go make good on any of them, I'll let you know.

Fabulous Time-Saving Coupon website!

The September issue of All You had a blurb about a website to help with couponing so I thought I'd check it out. Glad I did because it's awesome.

This site not only allows you to type in items to see what coupons are available, but it also links you to clip and print coupons linked from all the major coupon websites. It also has a cool feature where you can make your grocery list and click on the item to see what coupons are available. Another feature is weekly insert schedule. I think this could help your coupon matching time shorten even more.

Huge Meat Sale

I heard a rumor that there's a huge meat sale at the Price Chopper on Woods Chapel today and tomorrow. This is limited to that store only. Last week Belton's PC had one and they completely sold out of meat. Might be worth checking out.

Hyvee Coke products 5 for $12

If you drink Coke products from cans, get to Hyvee. You can get 4 12-packs for $12 (which is pretty typical in the summer), but with an in ad coupon, you can get a 5th for FREE. Ends up being $2.40 per 12-pack. A great deal!

Walgreens 8/30 thru 9/5

Ran to Walgreens today to get Special K B1G1 Free! It's a great deal, and if you have any coupons (which I did-- $1 off 2 boxes), you can get two boxes of Special K for 3.49-- not bad!

I also scored on $.99 Scunci hair accessories for Kate (in ad coupon) and got Kraft Deluxe Mac/Cheese (I use it in my taco bake recipe) for 1.69, which is good, but with $1 off 2 boxes, it's even better! Oh, and Scotch packaging supplies are B1G1 too. So, I got 2 things of packaging tape for 2.49 (I had two $.50/1 coupons!)

All in a good days work!

Chik-fil-a promotion

Two things are going on in the world of Chik-fil-a. First, on Monday, September 7, you can get a free chicken sandwich for wearing any team-related clothing. It's a promotion focused around the Chik-fil-a bowl and the start of college football season.

Second, if you don't want to go and wait in line all day, then you can sign up at http://www.chickenwave.com/ to be a fan and in return get a coupon for a free chicken sandwich (first 150,000 fans). As of this morning, there were plenty of spots open, but I couldn't get the site to load well enough to get through the process. I think they are having serious bandwidth problems, but if you get a chance to try it, add your experiences to the comments.

Update: I tried the chickenwave.com site just now and it worked fine!

Hyvee Ziploc baggies-- Free!

Just found out from a reliable source that there is an end cap at the 40 Hwy Hyvee with ziploc bags marked down to $.50/box. If you have the ziploc coupons, which are prevalent lately, you should be able to get free baggies! I haven't confirmed this myself, but it's worth a look if you happen to be there anyway.

KMart Double Coupon Week! 8/16-8/22

It's Double Coupon week at KMart! I've been able to get awesome deals the last two times I've shopped double coupon week. Make sure you do your research before you go so your trip will go smoother. I recommend typing out a list of what you want and the corresponding coupon insert location. I also categorize by household/grocery/etc. so it's easier to navigate in the store. Jaime discovered last time around that the Bannister KMart is less picked over so she was able to get tons of the free things that the Independence KMart I shop at was out of. Go, Jaime!

For a detailed list of free and just plain good deals, go to http://www.abundantfoodsavings.com/Kmart/kmart-super-double-816-822-coupon-match-up-list-free-and-super-cheap.html

Team Work Makes a Dream Work

I don't know that saving money is a dream, but according to those small, singing children from Sunday's night at Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, team work is good. So, together with my co-conspiritors, we are launching this very informal blog to share our tips and tricks about the best deals around town.

For me, I began couponing around the first of this year, but really kicked it into high gear around May. My average grocery bill is now less than $50 a week, and I am buying more food than ever. Even my husband is impressed with the savings!

I'm no professional, but I really do want to stretch my dollar as far as I can. I know that my friends are much better at this game (and that's really what it is), than I am. We've been sharing tips and tricks via email and facebook for some time, and decided it was time to try sharing in a more readily available and searchable format.

Here are the rules: Each bargain should be labeled with the type of bargain it is (coupon, freebie, rebate, sale) and/or where it's at (Target, Price Chopper, etc). This will allow us to create an index of the deals for easy research. If you're referencing another source (blog, ad, etc), please refer to it by name in the posting.

If you aren't a current author, please feel free to comment on a post with any additional tips or tricks you might have.

What am I leaving out, girls? Let's get to the bargain hunting!
